TEHRAN An Alabama woman was sentenced to life in prison on Monday for killing a pregnant teenager, then cutting the unborn baby from the youngster's womb and kidnapping the child, AFP from Tuscaloosa reported. Felecia Scott, 31, was found guilty in the shooting death of 17-year-old Carethia Curry, who disappeared after the two went out for a pizza on Jan. 31, 1996. Both women were from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, about 40 miles (64 km) east of Montgomery, the state capital.

Curry was nine months pregnant at the time. Scott, who had befriended the teenager, also claimed to be pregnant, even though she had undergone a hysterectomy three years earlier. Curry's body was found several weeks later stuffed inside a garbage can that had been rolled into a ravine.
